How Should I Teach Children to Manage Passwords?
Online safety needs repeated, concrete conversations. Teach them to use long, unique passwords, avoid sharing them, and use a password manager when appropriate.
Children understand rules better when adults explain the reason behind them. Use examples: personal information can spread, strangers online may not be who they claim to be, and suspicious links or messages can cause real trouble.
Set device rules, use parental controls when needed, and create a family habit of reporting anything uncomfortable without fear of being scolded. Children are more likely to ask for help when they know adults will listen calmly.
The goal is not to make children use technology more and more. The goal is to help them choose the right tool, think for themselves, and use digital experiences in a way that supports learning and daily life.
