Checking Notifications First Thing Rushes Your Mind

Do you still have your smartphone open under your futon right after you wake up in the morning? It's natural to want to keep up with messages and videos, but when you're bombarded with notifications at the beginning of the day, it's easy to get preoccupied with external information before you can keep up with your own pace.

First thing in the morning is mental preparation time.

Morning is the time when your body and mind start to move. When I see the notification at that moment, my unprepared mind suddenly starts to rush, thinking, "I have to return it," "I'm curious about what happens next," or "It's time to go out." This can make it difficult to sit down and eat or prepare breakfast.

Give yourself back the first few minutes.

When you wake up, wash your face, open the curtains, drink water, and change your clothes. By taking these steps first, you will be the main focus of your morning, not your notifications. Even just pushing your notifications back a bit can make a big difference in how you start your day.

What you can do today
Tomorrow morning, before you look at the notification, try doing one thing first. For example, drinking water, opening the curtains, or taking a deep breath can be enough.

At Digital Kodomo BASE, we believe that preparation before use is also an important skill. Children who can take a few minutes to themselves in the morning are more likely to start the day calmly.
