Headlines Can Fool You

Videos, news, and SNS posts are lined with titles that make you want to press them. When I see words like “absolutely terrible” and “watch it now” I get curious.

A headline alone is not always enough to tell whether something is really true.

The title is just the entrance

When you read the content, you may find that it is not as exaggerated as the title suggests, or that it is a story with some conditions. If you only look at the title and tell people about it, you may end up spreading incorrect information.

Especially on social media, many people react to the title alone, so the story can get stronger and stronger.

Look inside and decide

What really matters is what is explained in the article or video. Let's take a look at who is saying it, why they say it, and where the original information is.

Children who are able to look at the content and make decisions without being drawn in by the title will be less likely to be fooled. Reading calmly will give you the power to protect yourself.

What you can do today
When you find a title that interests you, don't believe it right away; look at the contents until the end before thinking about it.

At Digital Kodomo BASE, we value the attitude of not being swayed by prominent words and checking things out for yourself. The title is an entry point, not an answer.
