Screen time and phone rules can feel like something already decided for you.
But they can often be discussed again. What matters is how you say it, and whether you bring an alternative.
Not "More," but "How"
"I want more time" doesn't move a conversation. "If I finish my homework first, I'd like thirty more minutes" is far easier to agree to.
Answering their worry first also helps. Homework, sleep, eyes. Once you know the worry, the proposal is easier to build.
Keeping Rules Makes the Next Talk Easier
The number of times you kept a rule stays as trust. With a record of keeping it, the next conversation goes faster.
Rules about place and use can be discussed too: "I'll use it in the living room, not my room" is the kind of change that often passes.
On days you couldn't keep it, say so. Trust drops less that way than if they find out later.
Pick one rule you'd like to change and write your alternative in one line.
At Digital Kodomo BASE, we believe rules shouldn't be set one-sidedly.
