A Subscription Charges You Even If You Don't Use It

Some music, video and game services charge a set amount every month. These are called subscriptions.

The tricky part is that the same amount leaves your account whether you use it or not. Months you never opened it are charged too.

It Starts After the "Free Trial"

Even when it says "one month free," payment usually begins unless you cancel. Writing down the day you started helps.

Cancelling isn't finished by deleting the app. In most cases you have to stop it from the subscription settings on your phone or console. Delete the app alone and you keep paying.

Count Them and You'll See

Four services at 500 yen each is 2,000 yen a month. Check now and then for ones you no longer use.

It's the same if it isn't your own money. If it comes off a family card, talk about it before you decide.
