Call the person over and take them away from the spot. Bring up something unrelated and break the flow. Go and fetch a teacher.
None of these means squaring up to anyone. Sometimes breaking the moment ends it. This isn't only for brave people.
Telling an Adult Isn't a Last Resort
Trying to handle it among yourselves can make it worse. Telling an adult early usually keeps it small.
You can pick who. It doesn't have to be your class teacher: the school nurse, a club teacher, someone at home. Deciding in advance helps you act.
On days confronting feels impossible, invite the person somewhere else.
