When There's Nobody You Can Tell

Sometimes you can't tell a teacher or your family. For those times, there are places where you can talk to someone you don't know.

All of these are free, and you don't have to give your name. It's fine even if you think "is this worth calling about?"

Helplines You Can Call

24-Hour Children's SOS Dial (MEXT) 0120-0-78310 24 hours, every day, free. It connects to the education board helpline for where you're calling from.

Children's Human Rights Hotline (Ministry of Justice) 0120-007-110 weekdays 8:30–17:15, free.

Childline 0120-99-7777 every day 16:00–21:00, for under-18s, free (closed 29 Dec–3 Jan).

Before You Call

You can hang up partway, and you can call back later. You don't need to have your thoughts in order.

If the call history on a home phone or your own phone worries you, telling a teacher or a librarian that you want to make a call can get you somewhere to do it.

What you can do today
Write down one helpline number and keep it with you.

At Digital Kodomo BASE, we value knowing where to turn when things get hard.
