Fees and Shipping Can Eat All Your Profit

Selling something for 1,000 yen doesn't mean 1,000 yen reaches you. Things get taken out after it sells.

Fees and shipping. If the fee is 10%, that's 100 yen; with 300 yen shipping, 600 yen is what's left.

Do the Maths Before You Set a Price

Dropping the price to look cheap can leave you with nothing. Who pays the shipping changes it a lot, too.

Boxes, bags and tape cost money. Taking photos, writing the description and going to send the parcel take time.

It Works the Same in Any Business

Shops also run on what's left after stock and rent come out of sales. "What it sold for" and "what's left" being different is an idea you can use anywhere.

So set prices by calculation, not by mood. Write down what gets taken out first, then decide the number.

Sometimes the maths says don't sell it. If little is left for the effort, that's an answer too.
