「(主語が)〜される/〜された」
能動態と受動態の対比
能動態:動作を する側が主語
例:Tom broke the window.(トムが窓を壊した)
受動態:動作を 受ける側が主語
例:The window was broken by Tom.(窓はトムに壊された)
→ 同じ出来事でも視点が違う
肯定文の例
This book is read by many people.(多くの人に読まれている)
The window was broken by the boy.(窓は少年に壊された)
English is spoken in many countries.(多くの国で話されている)
This letter was written by Tom.(この手紙はトムが書いた)
The room is cleaned every day.(部屋は毎日掃除される)
Rice is grown in this area.(米はこの地域で栽培される)
能動態 → 受動態への書きかえ
① 能動態の 目的語 → 受動態の 主語
② 動詞 → be動詞 + 過去分詞(時制は元のまま)
③ 能動態の 主語 → by + 目的格
例:He wrote this letter. → This letter was written by him.
例:Many people read the book. → The book is read by many people.
例:She made this cake. → This cake was made by her.
時制ごとの受動態

否定:be動詞 + not + 過去分詞
例:This book is not read by children.
例:The letter was not written by him.
疑問:be動詞を文頭に
例:Is this book read in Japan? — Yes, it is.
例:Was the window broken? — Yes, it was. / No, it wasn't.
疑問詞 + 受動態:
例:When was this book written?(この本はいつ書かれた?)
過去分詞の作り方

by 〜(行為者)の省略
① 行為者が「一般の人々」のとき
English is spoken here.(ここでは英語が話される ← by people は省略)
② 行為者がわからない・重要でない
The window was broken.(窓は壊された ← 誰がは不明)
③ 行為者が明らか
He was killed in the war.(戦争で死んだ ← 戦争で当然のこと)
by 以外の前置詞をとる受動態
be interested in 〜(〜に興味がある)
be surprised at 〜(〜に驚く)
be covered with 〜(〜で覆われる)
be made of 〜(〜でできている/材料が見える)
be made from 〜(〜から作られる/原料が見えない)
be known to 〜(〜に知られている)
例:I am interested in soccer.
例:The mountain is covered with snow.
受動態が好まれる場面
① 行為者より 受け手に焦点を当てたい
② 行為者が 不明または重要でない
③ 客観的な事実として述べたい(ニュース・科学・歴史)
例:The Olympics were held in Tokyo in 2021.
例:The Mona Lisa was painted by da Vinci.
- 受動態は 必ずbe動詞を使う。do/does/did ではない
- 過去分詞は 過去形と違うことが多い(write→wrote→written)
- by の後は 目的格(he ではなく him、I ではなく me)
- 能動態の時制をそのまま受動態に反映する
- 過去形 → was/were + 過去分詞
- 現在形 → is/am/are + 過去分詞
- × He wrote this. → This is written by him.(時制違い)
- ○ He wrote this. → This was written by him.
- 自動詞(目的語なし)の文は受動態にできない
- × He runs fast.(自動詞 run)→ 受動態にできない
- 目的語があるとき(他動詞)のみ受動態にできる

- 過去分詞を使う。
- by は動作主が必要なときだけ。

まとめ
- 受動態:be動詞 + 過去分詞。「〜される/〜された」
- 能動態の目的語が受動態の主語になる。
- 能動態の主語は by + 目的格。
- 時制に応じて be動詞を変える(is, was, will be)。
- 過去分詞は不規則変化に注意(write→written、speak→spoken)。
- by 以外:interested in, surprised at, covered with など。
- by 〜 は行為者が不明・一般・重要でないとき省略。
